Penny seems like he's put in a lot of work on himself to get over what happened in the past, which is great. But I still feel sad for his situation and that potential.

Honestly if MJ hadn’t come back I think the magic could have won in ‘96. If that happens, then I think the Shaq-Penny conflict is minimized and they could have stayed together for a long run. They had such a promising and talented young team on the cusp of greatness.

I was a huge fan of the Magic during those years. I had just gone to see that awful movie of Shaq's Shazam when I heard he was leaving for the Lakers. I was so pissed at him, I blamed him for a lot of years. But realized later that the Magic organization dogged him out.

To this date still my favorite player of all time when i was in middle school. Traded all my MJ cards for penny, remembered watching him in my small half working TV against the bulls, if he scored 20-25 points my rookie card will go up in value from 15USD - 25USD.

How can he honestly say "it worked out" - it did not work out. You lost in the finals, got swept by bulls the year after, Shaq left, you were injured the rest of your career.... Shaq and Webber would've been dominant. Yah were not ever on that level. You would've had a better career in GSW bc of your skill type for a team geared towards big guards. Worked out sounds like endorsements and contracts made your life comfortable - winning is not in your "it worked out" equation.

The old saying is "what goes around, comes around". Looking back, the same thing Shaq did to Hardaway, is what Kobe did to him. Shaq was jealous and felt disrepected that Penny was getting the finest girls, dopest shoes, best commercials, and flyest commercials and that was a big reason Shaq left ORL...years later Kobe's jealousy of Shaq having the flyest commercials, a name brand sneaker, dope logo, movies, and a PHUCKING PLATINUM ALBUM and so...

Penny still in my top 10 All time personal favorite players. I have 2 list, my personal fav and a true ranking list no bias. After Jordan , Penny was the closes thing to his superstardom. Don’t know if he’s ever admitted it but he didn’t take weightlifting and training serious. He’s HOF no questions. His impact in the 90s was tremendous. All nba player, had a four year mark where he was the beat pg in the game

penny and grant hill should have ben the ones to carry the league between when mj retired in 98 and when kobe came on in like 2007. those 10 years were boring af with san antonio as the main team, dallas, detroit, etc. great teams- but no stars to rule the league. but then vince , kg, ai, etc came on- but none had the complete broad marketability and game that hill and penny had.

It's a shame that the Orlando Magic didn't keep this core together for a long time. I'm sure they would be a tough matchup for the Bulls during their second three-peat. They really had the potential to change the NBA landscape, but I guess the Magic front office was just cheap when negotiating a contract with Shaq in 1996.

Shaq was playing the way he was playing in the early 2000's because centers had disappeared but he was the same dominant player in the 90's. But he didn't have to face Olajuwon, he had to play Divac...pretty big difference...
Jim Schwartz
Jim Schwartz 4 oy oldin
Dylan Rich Ben Wallace did not shut Shaq down lol are you people stupid? Shaq avg 27pts 11rebs in the finals and had games like damn near 40pts and 20 rebs... those are video game numbers. And he did that with Kobe having the worst shooting performance by a star player in the finals of all time. So I destroyed what you had to say. Please know what you are talking about first. The only way Lakers were beating the Pistons with Kobe shooting so many bricks was if Shaq played like 1999-2000 Shaq and then yes Lakers would’ve won because just like in the 2000 NBA finals Shaq would’ve beat the Pistons and Kobe and all those bricks.
Jim Schwartz
Jim Schwartz 4 oy oldin
And Shaq was in his third season stupid when he played Hakeem in the NBA finals and put up 28/13/6/3 hahaha if Shaq would’ve played Hakeem in his prime hahahahaha hahah he would’ve put ridiculous stats up and prime Shaq against Hakeem in 1995 and the Magic won the finals probably in 5 or 6 games at the latest.
Jim Schwartz
Jim Schwartz 4 oy oldin
That’s not true Shaq was a monster the first day he stepped on a court avg 24pts 14rebs and 4blks. Second and third season he avg 30pts and took his team to the NBA finals were he avg 28pts 13rebs 6ast and 3blks against Hakeem. Shaq and Hakeem we’re the two best centers in the 90’s dummy. And prime Laker Shaq had to play against Mutumbo, Ben Wallace, Mourning, Yao Ming, David Robinson and Tim Duncan the twin towers, Sabonis (who is in the HOF but if he came in the NBA earlier he for sure would’ve been in) haha all those players were HOFamers beside Ben who will get in at some point. I could keep going but I think you get the picture. Mutumbo is top3 to 5 best defensive centers ever and he won the defensive player of the year award the years Shaq destroyed him in the NBA finals. Shaq avg 27pts 12rebs against Robinson who was still a great defender as well as a good player and a monster in Tim Duncan and Shaq would bulky them boys at the same time. Skip who loves the Spurs has admitted on numerous occasions that Shaq would kill the twin towers. In the 90’s Shaq put up monster numbers against Ewing, Hakeem, so you sound really stupid. Do better next time.
